The 500 Supporters’ Group — bringing hope to Africa
We believe in active community involvement and strive to give back to the community where we can. Since 2001, Peter and staff have been actively involved as a founding member of the 500 Supporters’ Group.

The 500 Supporters’ Group’s sole focus is to raise funds to assist the Ruben Centre, an Australian-backed and Australian-led not-for-profit organization situated in the Mukuru slums, 10km from the centre of Nairobi. The slums are built upon land that was initially used as a dump and today they are home to over 600,000 people who live in make-shift, 10 feet by 10 feet corrugated shacks.
The Ruben Centre aims to improve the living standards of the slum’s residents by providing services in key areas such as:
- Education (operation of a school with a student population in excess of 1,800)
- Community development (social work programs, micro finance services, food relief initiatives and programs that target the reduction of child labour), and
- Health (over 50,000 people were immunised, HIV tested, counselled, and otherwise treated in the medical clinic in 2012)
